From the Green to Parliament
Our recent World Cup activation at SGSCC was more than just a great day on campus. It has now been recognised on a much bigger stage. Following the event, MP David Moncrieff (Member for Hughes) delivered a Constituency Statement in Parliament, acknowledging SGSCC and the impact of our work within the community. It is a proud moment for our College and a reflection of what we achieve together. The day brought students, staff and clients together in a vibrant celebration of culture, connection and inclusion. From cheering on the match with our Colombian international students and celebrating their win, to enjoying a sausage sizzle and friendly games on the Green, the atmosphere was full of energy and community spirit.
We were pleased to welcome David Moncrieff to campus, where he spent time engaging with our youth students and disability clients. Our Aspect students were actively involved and had a fantastic time. This recognition reflects the passion and commitment of our people. Our staff are at the heart of everything we do, and moments like this show the impact we can create together. At SGSCC, we are proud to bring people together and create inclusive experiences that strengthen our community.

Proud Moment: Recognised in NSW Parliament
The St George and Sutherland Community College is proud to share a significant moment of recognition, following a Community Recognition Statement delivered in NSW Parliament by Mark Speakman MP.
In his address, Mr Speakman acknowledged the success of the College and highlighted its recent achievement at the 2026 Southern Sydney Business Awards, where it was named Outstanding Community Organisation.
To be recognised in Parliament in this way is an honour and a reflection of the College’s ongoing commitment to supporting its community through inclusive, high-quality education and engagement initiatives.
This acknowledgment reinforces the impact of the College’s work across the region—driven by passionate staff, engaged learners, and strong community partnerships.
We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and proud to represent the strength and spirit of our community.

A Proud Moment for Our College
We’re thrilled to share that we have been named the winner of the Outstanding Community Organisation at the Southern Sydney Business Awards. On Friday evening, we attended the awards cocktail event at Rydges Cronulla, alongside a group of truly inspiring and impactful organisations. Being nominated was an honour — taking home the award was an incredibly special moment for our team.
It was also a wonderful opportunity to share our story, and we look forward to continuing to highlight the work we do and the impact we have within our community.
We were proud to celebrate the evening alongside Kamen Tsonev, President of the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber, and to be in the company of Mark Speakman MP, Jack Boyd, Mayor of the Sutherland Shire and other dignitaries.
This achievement is a reflection of our passionate team, whose dedication drives what we do every day. We are incredibly proud of the difference we make together.
A huge thank you to the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber for hosting such a fantastic evening, and to our community for your ongoing support — this recognition belongs to all of us.
We’re excited to now progress to the Regional Awards later this year and continue representing our community on a larger stage.

World Cup Spirit Comes Alive at SGSCC
Our campus was buzzing with excitement as we brought the FIFA World Cup to life on the Green — and what a day it was! Students, staff, and clients came together to celebrate the global game in true community spirit, creating an atmosphere full of energy, connection and fun. From the moment the big screen lit up, the excitement was contagious. A special highlight of the day was watching the match alongside our Colombian RTO students — and even better, celebrating their win together! The cheers, smiles and shared pride created a truly unforgettable moment.
Of course, no event is complete without great food, and our sausage sizzle was a hit, bringing everyone together to relax, chat and enjoy the day. Around the Green, friendly competition was in full swing, with staff and students facing off in foosball matches and putting their skills to the test on the soccer target. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, having a laugh and connecting outside the classroom.
We were also delighted to welcome MP David Moncrieff, who spent time engaging with our youth students and disability clients. His visit added a special touch to the day, highlighting the importance of inclusive, community-focused events and the positive impact they have. It was equally wonderful to see our Aspect students joining in the fun and enjoying the activities, reinforcing what SGSCC is all about — creating inclusive opportunities where everyone feels welcome and part of the community.
Events like our World Cup activation are a great reminder of the power of sport to bring people together. Across cultures, ages and abilities, the day was filled with connection, celebration and shared experiences. We’re proud to create moments like these at SGSCC — where community, inclusion and joy are always front and centre.
