Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) 

One number, yours for life. 

A Unique Student Identifier, or USI, is your own personal education number. It creates a secure online record of all the nationally recognised training you complete, anywhere in Australia. Think of it as the home for every qualification and certificate you earn, all in one place, for the rest of your life. 

Why you need one 

To study any nationally recognised course, including yours, you need a USI. It is also how we issue your qualification. Without a USI, we cannot give you your Certificate or Statement of Attainment, so it is an important first step. 

The good news: it is quick, easy and completely free. 

How to create your USI 

You can create your own USI in just a few minutes at usi.gov.au. You will need one or two forms of ID, such as an Australian driver licence, Medicare card, passport or birth certificate. Follow the prompts and your USI is ready straight away. 

We are happy to help 

Not sure how, or short on time? With your permission, we can create your USI for you as part of your enrolment. Just bring your ID to your orientation session and we will take care of the rest. 

Already have a USI? 

If you have studied a nationally recognised course before, you may already have one. Just let us know your USI when you enrol. If you have lost or forgotten it, you can recover it at usi.gov.au. Remember to keep your details up to date, as your USI stays with you for every course you ever do.
