Saturday Singing Sesh is a community singing circle open to everyone — no experience, no auditions, no perfect pitch required. Together we learn heart medicine songs through call and response, the oldest form of musical teaching there is. Once we know the song, we sing it together.
This is not a performance. It is not a class. It is a gathering — a chance to use your voice, feel held by community, and remember that singing was always meant to be shared.
Heart medicine songs have been used across cultures for thousands of years as a way of coming home to ourselves and to each other. Each session begins with simple grounding and breathing exercises to help you arrive fully before we move into the songs together. You will be gently guided through the learning process at a pace that feels accessible and safe. There is no wrong way to show up. Whether you whisper or belt it out, your voice belongs here.
Sessions may evolve into a weekly offering for those who wish to continue the journey.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
Experience the joy and ease of learning a song through call and response, without needing to read music or lyrics
Discover their voice as a natural instrument, regardless of singing experience or ability
Feel a sense of belonging and connection through communal singing
Understand what heart medicine songs are and why they have been used across cultures for healing and community
Leave with a simple, repeatable practice they can carry into their daily life
Experience what it feels like to be fully present in their body through sound and voice
What to bring:
Yourself, exactly as you are
Comfortable clothing you can breathe in
A water bottle
An open heart and a willingness to make sound
(No instruments necessary — your voice is enough)
About the Tutor:
'Hi, I’m Sheree – a circle facilitator and community welfare worker with foundations in shamanic practice and years of experience holding space for mixed groups, women’s sacred circles, and drumming and singing circles.
My work is rooted in a deep belief that every person deserves to feel seen, heard and welcomed — exactly as they are. I am endlessly passionate about the healing that happens when people come together in community, and I bring that same warmth and groundedness to every circle I hold.
I know what it feels like to not trust your own voice — literally and figuratively. My own path has been one of continuous healing, learning to nurture myself while nurturing others, and coming home to the parts of me that needed to be heard. That experience lives in the way I hold space.
What moves me most is witnessing what happens when people feel truly safe together — the softening, the opening, the quiet moment of self recognition. When someone leaves a circle feeling more at peace with who they are, more seen and more heard than when they arrived — that is the whole reason I do this.'
Other Information:
To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
