Across 8 hands-on sessions, you’ll learn how to understand patterns with basic blocks and progressing to more personalised and creative designs. Perfect for sewing enthusiasts, aspiring designers, or anyone ready to deepen their understanding of how garments are shaped, this course provides a solid foundation in both theory and practical skills.
You will be guided through professional techniques to measure, draft, and adjust patterns that fit the body accurately. By the end of the course, you will have created your own basic blocks (such as a skirt and bodice) and have the skills to modify these into original designs.
Course Outline:
- Accurate body measuring techniques

- Patternmaking tools and terminology
- Adding ease, seam allowance, darts, and notches
- Making basic style alterations and customisations

About the Tutor:
'Mora Cura brings over 35 years of experience in the fashion industry to her teaching. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Technology and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116). After a long career in the industry, Mora transitioned into teaching and now shares her passion for fashion, sewing, and design through practical, beginner-friendly classes. Her aim is to make sewing approachable, enjoyable, and empowering for all students.'

- All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
